Meet Deanna, our Global Director of User Centered Design
As the global director of user centered design for Medela, Deanna Gilbert oversees a global team responsible for defining and executing on the user experience for new products and services within Medela’s “Human Milk” business unit. She applies a user-centered approach to design to ensure that all new products reflect the company’s global brand and best-in-class usability, providing moms a consistent and intuitive experience across Medela’s entire breast milk feeding product portfolio.
Deanna joined Medela in 2010 as lead experience designer, responsible for overall product design strategy and user experience for the product category. While serving as the lead designer during the development of the Sonata™ Breast Pump, her design approach was augmented by having her first baby. The real life emersion experience enriched her understanding of the emotional and physiological needs of the moms she was designing for. “I remember pumping in an open room surrounded by other moms who were pumping as they shared stories, tips, and tricks. Though I had conducted hundreds of in-field interviews with moms by this time, this was experiencing it through a whole new lens.”
Deanna will be joining the Medela team at the show to answer your questions about Sonata, and give you an exclusive peek behind the scenes of this amazing new pump!
